Welcome to my first beauty product review! This weekend I FINALLY purchased Marc Jacob’s Magic Marc’er Precision Pen eyeliner. I’ve been wanting it for AGES and luckily, it did not disappoint! Most people think that I am super into make up. And I am! I hardly ever leave the house without eyeliner and mascara. But I don’t switch it up very often. I actually just started wearing eyeshadow as I received Urban Decay’s Naked Palette for Christmas (Best present ever! Thanks mom and dad :-D). But when it comes to switching up my look, I’ve pretty much been rocking the same style since high school. (Granted I have become much more skilled in the application and have thankfully lost the horrific off-brand, drugstore bronzer effect)
In any case, if there’s one thing I’m good at it’s applying black eyeliner. Starting out with pencil liners in high school, I quickly switched to liquid which helped me attain a bolder line. I’ve only tried gel liner once, and I hear it is the greatest stuff once you get into it, but I can’t seem to get away from the liquid. I feel most comfortable using it and am able to manipulate the line perfectly. My only issue with liquid liners is that they do tend to smudge. I used Maybelline’s Stiletto Liner for years and eventually made the switch to Sephora’s waterproof brand. Still, after a full day, I would get little black marks on my upper eyelids. Not cool. So before giving up and switching into gel, I decided I would give the Magic Marc’er a go. My last liquid liner resort.
First of all, the pen itself is adorable. It looks like one you would find on a desk of a fancy lawyer. Just make sure no one mistakes it for a pen! That would be tragic. It was modeled after a calligraphy pen and the tip is seriously exact. Even after ten years of wear, I still mess up my line from time to time. But with the Magic Marc’er’s precision tip, it’s nearly impossible. The line was solid, not transparent at all. I only needed one coat! It also stays on like a champ. The first day I wore it, I walked through a serious snow storm with super wet, windy snow blowing all up in my face. When I got to work, I was so worried I was going to look like a psycho raccoon, but alas, not one smudge! I then proceeded to wear it to bed, (for experimental reasons! never out of laziness…) and when I woke up, it was as if I had applied it moments before. The only complaint I’ve seen in reviews is that it’s so good, it can be difficult to remove. I however had no issue. I used my normal make up remover and it was no more difficult than removing any other waterproof liner. I have also seen some people say it isn’t dark enough for them, but take it from someone who loves black liner, I thought it was perfectly opaque without looking too harsh.
So if you are ready to shell out a little more cash for a sophisticated tool to add to your everyday make up routine, I would definitely recommend Marc Jacobs Magic Marc’er Precision Pen Liner.
